At the beginning of August, 1918, the 11th Royal Fusiliers battalion of 54 Brigade, 18th Division were holding the front line from the Bray-Corbie road to the River Somme, from where they were relieved on 2nd August. Unfortunately, the battalion war diary for the beginning of August is missing so there is no information concerning the death of William Wakeman who was killed in action on 1st August.
